SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge 2018 Goes Digital

KUALA LUMPUR : 13 February 2018 

SME Bank has started its venture in the digital era by opening up the registration for SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge 2018 via online platform in order to provide an easier way for students, teachers and schools to participate.

The online registration was opened to public since 15 December 2017 and the responses have been remarkable as 50% of the registrations are from new schools. To date, a total of 118 registrations have been received in contrast to last year’s only 91 registrations. In addition, SME Bank also promotes SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge 2018 in various social media platforms and the increase in number of participations has proved that SME Bank’s initiative to hop onto the digital platform is a smart and an effective move.

Dato’ Razman Mohd Noor, Chief Operating Officer, Operations and Group Corporate Management of SME Bank said, “Starting from its launching in 2012 until 2016, SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge has managed to attract participations from 409 schools that involved 1,344 students and 424 teachers. The quality of participations has improved tremendously and some of the schools have started to market their products.”

SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge 2018 offers a total prize of RM91,000.00 while the champion will also bring home five flight tickets worth RM25,000.00 that will encourage them to participate in an international competition. Apart from that, winners will also be receiving trophies, certificate of participation and the champion will be taking home a challenge trophy.

SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge 2018 is organized by SME Bank in collaboration with the Co-curricular and Arts Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE) and is open to all schools under MoE. For the first time this year, SME Bank has conducted a briefing session about the competition on 16 and 17 January 2018.  More than 82 teachers from schools chosen by the MoE attended the session.

YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry attended and launched the SME Bank Y-Biz Challenge 2018 today.
