KUALA LUMPUR : 16 February 2017

KUALA LUMPUR : 16 February 2017 – In its latest initiative of using financial technology tool to improve its service delivery, SME Bank has introduced first of its kind, “Book Your Banker” (BYB) online registration for those who are interested to apply for financing. Located in the SME Bank’s Mobile App, the BYB application will enable SME entrepreneurs to secure an appointment to meet the Bank’s officer at the branch of their choice and at the time that is convenient for them. SME Bank’s Mobile App can be downloaded through App Store or Play Store under the name SME Bank.

Datuk Mohd Radzif Mohd Yunus, Group Managing Director of SME Bank Group said, “This Mobile App will facilitate SME entrepreneurs who are ‘on the go’ to communicate and engage with the Bank‟s officers. Entrepreneurs will be notified by email, SMS and self check through SME Bank’s Mobile App for the status of the appointment, time and date, branch location and the specific officer who will be attending to them. A face-to-face consultation will be conducted at the selected branch before the application is formally submitted.”

Mohd Radzif added, “Meanwhile, dedicated for contractors and vendors of the Pan Borneo Project in Sabah and Sarawak, SME Bank has also introduced an online gateway that functions as a screening process to determine the eligibility of the contractors or vendors who are interested to apply for financing from SME Bank. They are only required to key in a few basic information for registration and upon being cleared by the system, the contractor or vendor will be brought to the ‘BYB’ application to secure an appointment for a consultation session.”

SME Bank has always embraced technology to improve on its deliveries and the introduction of the online registration gateway specifically for the Pan Borneo contractors and the BYB facilities are part of SME Bank‟s digitalisation efforts. Prior to this, SME Bank has launched its Mobile Application in 2015 which currently has a total 3,595 downloads and last year introduced the customer engagement mobile application named 4SME which assisted the Bank’s officer to upload reports on the progress of customers’ projects during their site visit through the usage of their smart phones.

The use of Information Technology will enable SME Bank to trim the turnaround time for financing applications considerably thus improving on its service delivery. This effort is also to ensure all communication with the Bank with regard to financing matters is well documented and wholesome.
