ODELA Provides B2B Platform to Expand Business Network

KUALA LUMPUR : 3 December 2019

Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad (SME Bank), an agency serving the SME sector and under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED), through its subsidiary, Centre for Entrepreneur Development and Research Sdn. Bhd. (CEDAR) today launched an ecommerce platform, ODELA in partnership with JNJ Group. ODELA will be the game changer in SME business landscape by providing access to a more systematic and informative e-commerce platform especially for business-to-business (B2B) activities.

YB Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, Minister of Entrepreneur Development (MED) said, “I am confident that ODELA will assist achieving the government’s aspiration to strengthen the country's digital economy which is expected to open up more opportunities and bring in huge benefits. In line with the objective of the DKN2030 in structuring and enhancing the country's entrepreneurial ecosystem, ODELA also plays the role of Digital Social Responsibility by providing comprehensive functions to meet the unique needs of B2B industry and its players.”

Aria Putera Ismail, Group President/Chief Executive Officer said, “ODELA is one of the components in the National SME Digital Platform that provides a digital business platform that will change the way SMEs operate their businesses. We are targeting to have 8,000 merchants and buyers to use ODELA in the first year after it is launched.”

“ODELA taps on new technologies and custom designed to enable the entrepreneurs to make transactions, facilitate exchange, foster innovation and partnership across vast ecosystems. This initiative will transform the landscape of the country's SME sector as it is part of the beyond financing services provided by SME Bank and CEDAR,” added Aria.

Fauziah Husain, JNJ Group Chief Executive Officer said, “ODELA is our commitment to drive the SME growth and nurture them to be more competitive in the market. B2B sector environment has undergone a great change especially with the younger generation also emphasizes on a faster, easier, safer and more profitable business management."

“Managing a business through ODELA will enable the merchant to create the Single Point of Truth (SPOT) which is the digital ID of a business. With ODELA, businesses will be assisted in terms of financial management, sales and purchase records, supplier records as well as entrepreneurship development training schemes,” added Fauziah.

ODELA was launched by YB. Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and witnessed by YB. Datuk Wira Dr. Mohd Hatta Ramli, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and YBhg. Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Md. Radzi, Secretary General, Ministry of Entrepreneur Development.
